Stokke Xplory Basic Review

When my son was a few months old, I realized just how stressful it must have been for him to be low to the ground, facing away from me while being pushed in his stroller down a busy street. I began wishing that a stroller existed that could adjust up and down and facing/away from a parent. I was so excited to find the Xplory, that it did exist. My hunch that babies could be stressed from the typical sitting arrangement of a stroller has even been verified by academic research. I love this stroller. The biggest drawback is the price: but I considered it a nod to the ingenuity of the designers and how unique it is. This stroller stands apart from all other strollers on the market. I am very impressed by its handling, quality of materials and adaptability.

I consider the carry cot as an unjustifiable expense because it is only functional for a short period of time in a baby's life and that period is when I'm most likely to be wearing the baby on my body for additional comfort and interaction. But once a stroller is the preferred method of travel for parent and child, the Xplory cannot be surpassed.

To others who covet this stroller as much as I did, I encourage you to keep searching for a good price. I finally got mine for $700 new (although it was a previous year's model).

My husband put this together by himself. He said it was supper easy to put together. Way easier than the ikea dresser I had him assemble. It looks even more beautiful in person than it did in the store. It is extremely sturdy looking. We bought it because we live in a 1br NYC apartment and it is extremely space efficient yet lasts longer than a mini crib (all the way to toddler bed and for extra $ junior bed). The only thing bad about this crib is the price! Oy! I really think it should come w/ at least the arch for hanging a mobile. It fits through doorways and rolls smoothly. I believe you can also take the wheels off if you don't like the look but we got it so we could easily wheel from the living room to bedroom and to take up less space in our bedroom. Its solid wood and made in the Netherlands. Also, note that this crib doesn't include the bassinet sizing and can't be purchased separately...unless you get lucky on craigslist. It also does not include the mattress. bummer. Check out the stokke webiste for more info.

Joovy Big Caboose Stand-On Tandem Triple Stroller Review

Joovy Big Caboose Stand-On Tandem Triple Stroller
Average Reviews:

I have a 22 month old son and 2 six week old twins.I did a LOT of internet research, and this is the best of what's out there for my needs.
Positives:
Price is reasonable-lots of triple strollers are in the $800 and up range. This ones averages around $300.

Fits most infant carseat buckets and holds TWO of them...I haven't found any other triple that will do this.

Easy to put together, fold up and change configuration as your needs change.

My toddler can either stand or sit on the tandem area.
Negatives:
It's big! They give the dimensions...use them..measure it out to make sure it will fit in your vehicle. It does not fit in the back of my minivan, but it does fit in the middle with a seat folded down.

The seat for the toddler is NOT for a kid who needs plush comfort. It's a small bench with a strap. It works out well for my kiddo, because he likes to alternate between standing and sitting, and he's not fussy when it comes to being comfortable.

You need to have some muscles! The carriage is 35lbs w/o kids and buckets.

All in all, this suited my needs.I haven't found anything out their better for the double infants + toddler combo!

STOKKE XPLORY Complete Review

STOKKE XPLORY Complete
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was the first stroller we bought for our baby, but we no longer use it due to several design flaws that turned out to be deal-breakers.
First the good stuff:
The height of the child seat or bassinet (they call it the "baby bag") is wonderful for a variety of reasons. The stroller is quite stable despite the height of the seat. The stair climbing feature - the rear wheels fold under -is great. The optional bag that sits on the lower platform (spare seat?) is very useful. Great for putting heavy things in while going shopping. The stroller can double as a child seat in restaurants. Easy to remove and wash fabric parts. Good warranty service.
Now the bad:
My main point - the design of the stroller around the single aluminum support beam has created some design limitations that they have had to work around, and their workarounds are not very good in many cases.
The Baby Bag is too short, and the cutout for the beam makes it even shorter practically. Our child had outgrown it by 4 months and we had to put him in the seat and recline it instead, which was not ideal.
The foot rest is very badly thought out - it needs to be removed entirely from the seat in order to change from forward to rear-facing (again, this is because of the beam), and it requires three hands to adjust or remove it - one for each of the catches on the left and right sides, and another to move the rest. Last time I checked I only had two hands.
This wouldn't be much of a problem if it weren't necessary to change between forward and rear facing so often, but since the seat will not recline very much in the forward-facing position (the beam again) you will find yourself executing this maneuver regularly. I don't know why they didn't design the footrest in two parts, that could fold like on a wheelchair, so it could clear the beam without having to remove the rest.
The safety bar for the seat doesn't open, and it's positioned too close to the seat, so getting the child in and out is difficult. It is removable, but it's not a quick procedure. Also you're not supposed to use this bar to carry the seat with the child in it, which defeats part of the purpose of having it there in the first place.
It's difficult to fold the stroller, you need to use both hands and one foot to close it, and if you start off with the seat rear-facing, you'll need to remove the seat first as well. This makes it less than ideal for getting into a taxi, for example, unless you have someone else there to hold the baby, and even so it takes too long.
The canopy is not waterproof. In a mild to heavy rain, water will soak through the fabric and drip inside. There is a plastic raincover , but as it zips to the front of the canopy, rather than covering it, it does not protect from water adequately. Also there is a fabric portion of the raincover which has the same problem as the canopy.
The mount for the optional sun parasol is not adjustable, so if you recline the seat the parasol cannot provide shade for the baby. Also, the flexible metal stem for the parasol itself is very stiff and doesn't adjust well, and it breaks easily, which will happen when you attempt to move the parasol into a useful position when the seat is reclined.
The oval handle is quite adjustable and comfortable for a range of users, however it's very hard to hang a bag from there, and there aren't really any other places to hang one on this stroller. Forget the small bag they sell to hang on the beam, it's a terrible solution. The lower bag is great for carrying shopping and such, but you don't want to have to always be reaching down there for bottles, food, toys, etc. and when the seat is forward-facing with the footrest installed, it's hard to get to that bag.
Lastly, the quality is not as good as one would expect given the price. The wheels are plastic and scratch and look bad quickly. The rear yoke for the back wheels isn't very strong so if you use the stair-climbing feature with much weight on the stroller it will deteriorate and break - we had to have ours repaired. Admittedly, this is due to the fact that we were abusing the stroller by climing stairs with it with the child in the seat (which they say not to do, presumably for safety reasons), but designers should be realistic and realize that if they allow you to fold the wheels under to climb or descend stairs more easily, then people are going to do that with the child in the stroller because in many cases there is no other alternative (what, take the baby out and leave it on the landing of the stairs while you go down to retrieve the stroller?). Also, there was a problem that developed where the seat would start slipping down. Our retailer contacted Stokke and they provided us with a little metal shim that solved the problem, but the annoying thing was that the instructions for this fix had a date printed on them that was before our purchase date - if they know this is a problem, why don't they provide the shim when you buy the stroller in the first place.
I hope that they will eventually redesign this and solve most of these problems. With the exception of the limitation on how the seat can recline, I think all of these flaws are solveable. But until they come out with a second version, I wouldn't spend money on this one. We got lucky - when ours broke, Stokke replaced the entire chassis, wheels and all (good warranty service, like I said) so we essentially had a new stroller, and we sold it and got enough to cover the cost of the stroller we had already bought to replace it. (a Quinny Buzz, btw - also not perfect but more useable for our purposes).

When the stoller is facing you, there is no protection for the babies head - there is high risk here. The straps are also limited and my daugther could not lie down with them on at one year and basically cannot wear them fully at 18th months. There is very little 'extension' on them.

We got this in the French white and it is beautiful. The construction seems very sturdy and the finish is high quality. Our son hasn't arrived yet so I cannot tell you how it will hold under years of use. I knocked off a star because when my husband was putting it together, the screw holes were not drilled properly. One side would not align and the next thing I know he has the electric screwdriver out....
A standard mattress fits in here very snug, changing sheets is going to be a pain. Although for safety reasons, I know you want a snug mattress. All in all, the quality is there.

This is a very nice stroller, the most compact stroller on the market that has reversible seat.It has a huge canopy, nice roomy seat, smooth operation, and large basket. It looks very stylish too!The toddler also sits high up and straight so my son likes it.It folds in half and can stand by itself. You can also grab it(when folded)and wheel it with the two big tires.I find this a huge plus for airport travel. It came with all accessories except the parent console. The stroller has two front foam tires and two rear air tires. You may compare this stroller to the new Britax B-scene, which allows a 2nd child but is heavier and wider between the 2 rear tires -- harder to get through tighter spaces. The britax also has smaller canopy. Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat And Base In Midori Review

Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat And Base In Midori
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We've been using this car seat for our little one for about a month. At this point I have nothing but praise for this seat.Initially we were comparing between this and the Britax Chaperone Carrier, Cowmooflage, but after test fitting the Chaperone in our full size truck with a full crew cab (and finding that it barely fit, and hung way off the seat beyond the 80/20 mark), we decided on the Chicco, and are glad we did.

Safety:
The car seat has great safety ratings, and scored well according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The detachable base allow for easy installation (you don't have to work around the seat) and it can connect with either a standard seat-belt or the LATCH system, which most newer vehicles have. It's very handy to be able to pop in/out of the base, without having to readjust the whole seat each time.In our case, we also purchased a second base, so we don't have to re-set everything up for each car.Just click to release, pop it in, do a pull check (to make sure it locked in) and go.The bubble level makes it easy to get level correctly, and install instructions are on the side and center of the base as well.

The strap adjustment is pretty easy to do, so you can easily loosen the straps, slide the kiddo in, and then pull the adjuster tight to get a snug fit, no matter what outfit your infant is in.The 5 point harness functions pretty similarly to other systems, so shouldn't be too bad to figure out.Another nice feature is the newborn insert to fit around the really tiny ones in the early days. One thing to make sure of is to read the manual. There are LOTS of hints/tips about the seat in there, and the most appropriate way to snug it for each scenario you might use it in.

Non-Safety Features:
The color is pretty cute (in Midori), and we do get comments on it, but overall, it's just the color, so it's not really the most important aspect of a car seat.

The adjustable handle makes it nice to carry or prop the seat when out and about (folds under to stabilize it).The car seat bottom has a nice curve to it, so you can rock your little one to sleep while waiting in offices to keep them calm (GREAT feature). The base has a little compartment in it that you can store the manual and other related items in, and the detachable sun/rain hood are pretty good for keeping things dry and comfortable. For winter we'll be swapping it out with a home made cover for warmth.I can't recall the weight of the seat, but it's not too bad to manage.

Side Benefit:
After getting this, we also found out that it fit perfectly (unintentionally) with the Stroller we had picked out/received, theJeep Liberty Limited 3 Wheel All Terrain Stroller so we can just pop the seat in, secure it, and go.If you're looking at it for that combo, it works great.

Summary:
It really is a great car seat, and I'm very happy we went with it.If you're on the edge, try and find a shop you can do a test fit in, and play with it compared to other models you have in mind.It may make all the difference.

BumbleRide Indie Stroller Review

BumbleRide Indie Stroller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After many in store and online comparisons, we are so happy with our Bumbleride Indie. We looked at many joggers- BOB's, City Mini, MacClaren's and even considered the Bugaboo. This stroller is light for a jogger, has a great basket that holds plenty of groceries, manuevers easily with one had (especially while trying to get through doorways) and handles the bumpy sidewalks of Philly great. The frame is really solid and the carriage portion is solidily constructed with lightly padded fabric, which I'm sure the little one will love when she is big enough. Using the infant seat is really easy, as it just gets belted in with the included attachment. The canopy is nice and big and between it and the infant seat canopy I can completely cover the baby if needed. The only negatives are that the cup holder is in the way of the release latch to fold down the stroller, so it takes getting use to, as does learning how to collapse the stroller. After doing it a few times though, I have it down. I find the key is to keep my foot on the brake as leverage. Also, I wish the storage pouch had a zipper, as the pump and manual fall out of it when it gets folded down. It doesn't fold down to be the most compact stroller, but no joggers do, and if you really need it to be compact you can remove the wheels to help. I think this is a great jogger for the money. I have yet to use it as a jogger, as my baby is only 2 months, but it seems like it will be great.

Phil and Teds Sport Buggy "Version 2" With Doubles Kit: Black Review

Phil and Teds Sport Buggy 'Version 2' With Doubles Kit: Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently purchased this stroller with the doubles kit, as #2's arrival is imminent.First of all, Phil and Ted's supplies the world's worst instruction manual. It's poorly written and illustrated, and the design does not lend itself to using your intuition to put it together b/c there are so many different ways configure this stroller. That leads me to the best feature of this stroller. It is highly functional. It allows for single stroller use as well as use with an infant + toddler and use with two toddlers.I was disappointed to find that for a three wheel stroller, it is not nearly as easy to push and maneuver as the BOB.It is stiff and tends to tip when trying to turn sharply.I know my BOB is a single stroller without all of the functions of the Sport Buggy, but I guess I am spoiled by how easy life has been with BOB.I've had no problems steering my two year old with one hand while steering my dog's leash with the other hand.Unfortunately, it hasn't been easy with this buggy.I expect the Sport Buggy to be more difficult to maneuver as I add the weight of another baby to the stroller. However, I need to be fair and highlight that this stroller will carry two kids instead of one, without the added bulk of a full double stroller.I am hoping that over time, its functional features will outweigh it's limitations.Pros: double stroller capability, single stroller width, adjustable handlebar, easy to access undercarriage when in single position, easy to operate harness, both seats can recline, easy folding mechanism, relatively lightweight, streamlined design.Cons: cannot maneuver with one hand, sometimes difficult to steer with two hands, cramped undercarriage when in doubles position, foot brake is difficult to access in doubles position and is also difficult to operate regardless of stroller configuration, canopy is short and doesn't provide as much coverage as I'd hoped.

UPDATE: after using the stroller with two kids, I've found that it is actually easier to steer with added weight and a slight adjustment to the handle bar.I've only used it in the setting with the infant laying flat thus far, and it has been working out well.It can fold while in this configuration, which is nice, but it does make the stroller heavier.I now have the pannier bags b/c of the cramped undercarriage storage. The bags are great.I leave one on the stroller at all times, and I keep it loaded with diapers and essentials. The other one comes with me into the house, and I load it with snacks and whatever else I need on a given day. It's nice to know that I don't have to carry a diaper bag with me.There's enough gear with two kids, and this way I don't have to remember as much.

I bought this bedding set for my daughter due in August. I was nervous that the pink would be too pale or too bright, but the colors are perfect and go with most other shades of pink and brown. The mobile I bought that matched was nice quality like the bedding, but it's a wind up and doesn't last that long. The crib bedskirt is very pretty with tassles and the fabric did well being washed. I was a little disappointed that the bumper ties weren't that long (I couldn't tie them into bows, only able to knot them) Also, they don't have ties on the bottom of the bumper, just the top, which I was wanting to really secure it well. The bumper is very stuffed though and maintains it shape. Overall I think this set will hold up well, but I gave it 4 stars for the bumper and the price.

BumbleRide Queen B Stroller Review

The QueenB is the best stroller there is, ever, period.I have owned and tried many high end boutique strollers, and this is head and shoulders above anything I have yet come across.

We've had ours from about 18 months. The more I use it, the more I'm impressed with it.It is a dream.

I have heard the criticism that its hard to turn in tight spaces.Bologna! Its is the EASIEST to turn in tight spaces. And of this point you may want to make additional note in the manual or such as I can see how people may make that inaccurate conclusion. If you "push forward" into the turn so as to put weight on the front wheels, they straighten out and make tight turns tough. But if you "push down" on the rear to take weight off the front wheels, it is the easiest tight "turn on a dime" ever.It actually turns itself.I can load the QueenB with a 1 year old and a 5 year old (with toddler seat) plus the ever full diaper bag, and navigate any department store with one hand... like a dream. There is no other stroller that could do this.(Admittedly if you try turning it like its a Graco, you could frustrate at it.)

Not to mention its just smooth as ice, with the oh-so-clever shock absorbers (kudos to the designer on that one) and the large air inflated tires.I enjoy just pushing it; I imagine for the kids its even smoother. So solid and sturdy, even with the adjustable handles, which I worried would get wobbly and "give" over time, it is a solid tank.We are increasingly impressed, dazzled, and amazed the more we use it.

Is anything wrong with it?Yes, a few downsides. Its heavy to lift, and is a large stroller; this is minor to me.The cup holder isn't fantastic; thats irritating, but also minor. The foot brake is solid and effective at being a brake, but is hard to release with your foot; sometimes I need to bend down and use my hand to release it.All minor complaints when compared to its upsides.

Well I just wanted to take a minute to give feedback on this fantastic stroller. The engineers did a great job.

Tike Tech Single All Terrain X3 Sport Stroller Review

I have FOUR big problems with this stroller.
ONE: There is a serious problem with the engineering of the crotch strap. My daughter is now 10 months old, and when I put her in the stroller, with her back against the backrest (naturally), her crotch/bottom is about 4 inches from where the crotch strap is sewn to the seat bottom. Now, you might not think that is a problem at first, but after about two minutes in the stroller, my poor gal slides forward until her crotch meets the strap, thereby moving her rump from the back of the seat, SO, now she is slumped in the seat sitting on her rounded tailbone. It is so uncomfortable! I have tried to roll up a large cloth diaper and put it between her legs (how embarrassing for the poor girl) just to keep her from sliding forwards!! It doesn't work that great, and looks really dumb. And, because the crotch strap is soooo far away, I don't expect her to grow into it in the near future--maybe this would be best for a two-year-old. The seat is also way too roomy for her, even with the Tike Tech comfort insert-thingy.
TWO: Sunscreen looks big, right? Well, it still does not block the sun any better than any other non-bubble shade. It does nothing special.
THREE: The front brake shifts on its own so that it hits the side of the tire while I am walking/jogging. I have to stop, lean over and manually push it off the one side of the tire back to the middle--over and over.
FOUR: The cheap plastic tire shield slides off the screw and comes down over the front tire, also making an annoying squeeky racket.
AND, just to let other novice shoppers know, don't get any large fixed wheel jogger if you are running around your neighborhood. It is so hard to turn this bad-boys! These types are for long straight runs.
