Colgate Natural I Crib Mattress, Ecru Review

This is a great mattress.Firm, yet comfortable. It is rather heavy (compared to a foam mattress). It is not waterproof in any way, but that has not caused us any problems so far (we have used it for almost 2 years now).We use a washable waterproof cover over the mattress.Would definitely buy it again, if needed. It appears to be made entirely of natural coir fiber, covered with a cotton batting (I don't think there are any chemical fire retardants added, which some say may contribute to SIDS).

Natural Mat Coco Mat Review

Natural Mat Coco Mat

This mattress is GREAT!I had originally bought a regular crib mattress from BabiesRus.It seemed really good for the price - firm, but not too uncomfortable for baby. Then, I started researching cribs and stumbled upon information about cribs and especially crib mattresses containing chemicals that leach formaldehyde. The mattresses are worse, though, since it is the law that they be flame retardant. Many chemicals are put into these mattresses, including roach killer, arsenic and antimony, and solid petroleum.Babies spend SO much of their time in them, in VERY close proximity. There is even research to suggest that a leading cause of SIDS is these chemicals that the babies ingest.

So, while on the hunt for a healthier mattress, I saw many so called "organic" products.Naturepedic in particilar markets an "organic" mattress. But as with food and dairy industries, organic does not always mean so.Per the USDA, a product only has to contain 70% organic ingredients to use the phrase "organic" on its packaging. So, the mattress might be made with organic cotton, but there are still other components. And unless you have a doctor's prescription for no flame retartants, or have a mattress made with wool, a natural flame retardant (which this mattress has), you're still going to get the bad chemicals. So, for the same price as a Naturepedic with the bad chemicals, I got this mattress (found it on sale through another website, even though I'd have gladly paid Amazon's price!).It is made entirely of the following:A core of organic coir (coconut fibers), organic wool, and 2 unbleached cotton covers. The wool acts as a water barrier itself, so you don't have to use horrible vinyl mattress pads.(Vinyl is one of the most toxic plastics known). The wool is also anti dust mite. The mattress provides ventilation and maintains temperatures to stay warm or cool, depending on the needs.

The mattress fits perfectly in my Pali Paula crib (even better than the first mattress I purchased, since that one was a little short on the sides). It is firm, yet springy. This will be GREAT for use as a toddler mattress, since it will still be comfortable for a younger child. All in all, I believe I found the BEST crib mattress out there. This, coming from an "organic OCD" mother, as my husband calls me, is a very high praise.[...].

Argington Organic Bam Bassinet Review

Argington Organic Bam Bassinet
Average Reviews:

It's a decent bassinet, but at $359, the wood is very cheap and light, and they have a warning sticker that needs to be removed. (It warns you to assemble it correctly). It's huge and of the cheapest possible material, so it cannot be removed without a tool. Of course, we ended up scratching the finish while trying to remove it.

So the manufacturers saved something like 6 cents by choosing a warning sticker that take a half hour for the end user to remove. Just pay for a decent sticker that actually comes off.

Anyway, in summary: overpriced. Annoying sticker.

Colgate Ultra II 150 Coil Innerspring Crib Mattress, White Review

Colgate Ultra II 150 Coil Innerspring Crib Mattress, White

After reading all the details about buying a mattress, I ended up with colgate. It has everything I was looking for: It is 150 coils, has an edge rod to prolong the life of the edges and mattress, For water-resistance it has ticking reinforced with nylon, therefore no need to extra mattress pad for wet. It's not heavy, but of course not light as foam ones. Also it has ventilation holes, which give freshness to mattress. It's firm. The only thing,I put cotton mattress pad in order to keep sheets ordered because nylon ticking on mattress creates slippery surface. Overall we're really satisfied with this purchase.

Colgate Eco Classica I Crib Mattress, Beige Review

This mattress is very light, but firm - just what you need for an infant. The shell material feels very nice to the touch and looks great too. It fits perfectly into the IKEA Leksvik crib, so there are no issues with potentially getting little fingers stuck in the gaps between the mattress and the sides of the crib.

Ergo Baby Carrier Review

Ergo Baby Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
and so do I! I started out with the Moby wrap and that worked fairly well for us, but it was a hot to wear, inconvenient to wrap when out and about, and tricky (but possible) to nurse in. I knew I wanted something else, but baby carriers are expensive and one could easily spend a fortune trying out all the variations.

We decided on the Ergo and we couldn't be happier. We've had it for six months now and it is the number one thing I could not live without as far as all baby gear is concerned. I too was worried about her only facing inwards, but she has never minded and she seems to prefer it. She holds on like a little koala bear as we go about our daily business. Unlike the Moby, she isn't flat against my chest, she's sitting, so that she can easily check out the scenery by looking to the sides.

When she was big enough--probably in the neighborhood of 5.5 or 6 months, I started wearing her on my back and that is great! Now when I do those glorious household tasks like cleaning toilets and baseboards, she isn't dangling off the front of me. We get a lot more cleaning done now that she can ride on my back. :-) At first, I needed help to put her on my back. However, now that she's 9 months and can hold on a bit, I can get her on easily--I even trust our abilities over concrete these days (when I started getting her into the back carry position on my own, I would practice over the couch. It *was* tricky at first (we made some mistakes), but once we got the hang of it, it wasn't a problem at all.

My husband can wear her too and it's simple to readjust the straps so that they fit both of us.

Like any of the carriers, this one takes some practice (though the front carry is about as easy as it can get). Breastfeeding in this for me is difficult, but I can do it in a pinch. I can carry her long distances and after a long while (probably 4-5 miles), my neck will hurt a bit, but my back is fine.

My daughter loves her Ergo in the way some kids take to a lovey. She'll stop by and give it a visit when she's crawling around exploring the house. When I see her chewing on the straps (they second as a favorite teething toy) or playing peek-a-boo with them, I'll put it on and she gets all excited (we compare it to the way a dog gets excited when his owner gets out the leash to take him for a walk). It is very sweet and funny. When she went for her first trip to our friend's house to be babysat, the only thing that would calm her when she was sad was being carried in her Ergo. If she has a meltdown when she's home with daddy, the Ergo saves the day (she just needs to play with it--not even ride in it).

I love the time my daughter and I spend walking our neighborhood with her in the Ergo. Sometimes we're quiet and other times she'll make happy bounces and that's my cue to do some hops and bounces for her. Our family members wonder why we never need a stroller. "Isn't she heavy?" they ask. They think we're a little weird. I don't know any parents out there who will look back on their child's life and wish that perhaps they had carried him/her less. We don't carry her all the time, but we do carry her more. The forward-facing position allows for optimal baby head-kissing...now who wouldn't want more of that? (except maybe the baby :-))--but a few more here and there are always nice, especially if you can sneak them in when they're asleep or not looking.

Hug your baby, carry your baby, dance with your baby...the Ergo will let you have more time to do those things *and* maybe get the dishes done too :-).
