(More customer reviews)I have read through numerous reviews for this stroller prior to making my purchase decision.I purchased an '08 model of the UNO which is virtually the same, except that it does not have the hand brake.This stroller is in a class of its own, it's not as rugged as a bugaboo, uppababy vista, or quinny buzz. It doesn't have pneumatic tires.It's closest competitor, in terms of features, would be the Graco Alano Flip-It.However, the Graco doesn't convert to a pram.
So here's my impression:Other reviewers had numerous complaints about this stroller, "feels plastickey", hard to steer in reverse mode, handle feels spongy or loose.I would have to say that if you are comparing this to the Bugaboo, etc. those would be valid complaints.However, this stroller can be purchased at a much lower price range.It's really in a different category, which I would compare more to the Graco Alano Flip-It, as I stated before, a rear-facing (due to the handle flip) stroller that also has the added bonus of a Pram conversion.Of course, it isn't going to be as rock solid as a Bugaboo, and it doesn't cost like a Bugaboo either.As far as I can tell, the frame isn't aluminum.Not a big deal, however, if Peg Perego had made the frame aluminum, and had a sold, non-adjustible handle, as in the Bugaboo, it would have a much more solid feel to it.Since the handle is adjustible, it has a little play or wiggle to it.Its still solid, you can pick up the stroller and get over bumps, its just that it would have been better as a solid, impressive-looking aluminum handle, without the plastic portion on the top that adjusts.As far as steering, it steers just as well as the Alano flip it, maybe a bit easier.It isn't going to steer as great as a stroller that can flip the entire seat front to back, obviously, because when in reverse mode, you are steering backwards, which really isn't hard or difficult at all.
Now let's look at the positive features that literally blow the other high-end competitors out of the water:1) This stroller has a big huge basket that is spring loaded, so you can easily access it in pram mode, flat seat mode, etc.The basket bends down and up so it is very easy to access and it is big.2) This stroller is extremely easy to fold.I tried to fold up the Alano flip-it at the store and I could not figure it out, folding this thing is a breeze, just hit the "1" and "2" tabs with your foot, and it folds right up.It folds easily, as long as the handle is flipped to front, hood is closed, and seat is upright.You do not need to take off the pram pieces, or the snack tray, or physically remove the seat or bassinet, like you must in those very expensive high-end, rugged rear-facing strollers such as the bugaboo, quinny, and vista.3)This stroller is only about 20 lbs, which is much lighter than the Quinny buzz, the Skate, and Uppa Baby.It folds quick and stands upright when folded, it is not hard to pick up and lift to the back of your suv.It's not an umbrella fold, but it is compact enough, considering all the features.You need to have an suv-type vehicle to fit this in that's for sure, just as you would with the UppaBaby, Skate, Quinny, etc.3) The snack tray exists, and it is removable, so it doesn't need to be on the stroller when you are in pram mode.So many of the pics on the net show the baby in the pram with the snack tray on, which doesn't make sense to me at all, it should be off in pram mode, for the comfort of your little one. 4) So many people have complained that the harness is not removable, well, it is removable if you are aware of a little device called a screwdriver and you are not afraid to use it.I'm not convinced that it is safe to use as a pram with the harness attached to it, it looks dangerous to me.5)The wheels on this stroller are not hard plastic like on the Alano Flip-It, They are more of a foam covered in rubber type of wheels, much smoother driving.
I personally feel that this is an excellent stroller.Overall, it is much easier to use than the Bugaboo, Quinny, Skate, etc. although not nearly as rugged.I think for the price it is offered, it could be made more rugged, with an aluminum frame, less plastic, non-adjustible foam covered aluminum handle.I would not want it to have pneumatic wheels as that would add additional weight.The seat is much larger than the others, it will last much longer in terms of being used for larger toddlers.It has a snack tray which is great, and a very adjustible removable bumper bar, which is also excellent.
I feel that the price I paid was good, but I don't think I would be so happy if I had paid the full MSRP.However, price aside, I love this stroller and I'm giving it 5 stars. I ruled out Bugaboo as "too pricey", UppaBaby as "too much work to fold" and "too big when folded", Quinny Buzz as "too much work to fold" and "too big when folded" and "too heavy", and the skate as "too new, not reliable" and "too many parts" and "too heavy".
I seriously feel that moms using the Peg Perego UNO will have a much easier time of folding it, getting it into and out of the back of the SUV, and shopping at the mall with the large basket, and shading their little ones from sun and snow with the huge pram and sun canopy, zipping through the zoo, etc.It's definately not an off-roading, tromping through national parks type of stroller as is the almighty Bugaboo.But for suburban moms, I think it's perfect.
